Champion: One Man’s Fight for His Daughter
"Six years ago, Cheng Yu, the legendary ""Golden Right Fist"" and three-time champion, was drugged during the finals. Framed for match-fixing by the corrupt boxing association chairman Li Jingchuan, he was stripped of all honors, and his prized right arm was brutally broken by his opponent in the chaos. After a year in prison, he was released only to learn that his former fiancée, Lu Linxuan, had become Li Jingchuan’s betrothed. His mother-in-law, Wu Qiong, handed him their one-year-old daughter, Cheng Shutong, coldly ordering him to forget about Lu Linxuan forever. Five years passed, grinding away his spirit. Once a household-name champion, Cheng Yu was now a broken man, barely scraping by as a human punching bag to support himself and his daughter. Shutong became the light that pieced his shattered life back together—their days were poor but filled with warmth. However, her sudden serious illness shattered their fragile peace. Desperate to save her, Cheng Yu turned to his old boxing club friends, only to be met with scorn and rejection. In a final act of humiliation, he knelt before his nemesis, Li Jingchuan, begging for money. Seething at Cheng Yu’s reunion with Lu Linxuan, Li offered him a cruel deal: prove himself in the ring like a real man, or disappear forever. But Cheng Yu, a shadow of his former self, walked away. When Lu Linxuan confronted him, their long-buried resentment exploded. She accused him of hiding Shutong’s existence and demanded custody, insisting she could provide better care. Heartbroken, Cheng Yu agreed—until Shutong, learning the truth, fled the hospital, refusing to leave her father’s side. Driven by his daughter’s love, Cheng Yu accepted the fight he once refused. Against all odds, the rusty ex-champion stepped back into the ring. As he neared defeat, Shutong, who was supposed to be boarding a plane for overseas treatment, rushed to the arena. Defying her illness, she screamed her first words in years—""Dad, fight!""—igniting his spirit. Cheng Yu won, avenging his past and exposing Li Jingchuan’s doping scheme. Reunited, he and Lu Linxuan began to mend their fractured love. But the battle wasn’t over. Qin Lao, a shadowy tycoon pulling the boxing world’s strings, tried to recruit Cheng Yu for fixed matches. When he refused, Qin unleashed an undefeated foreign champion to dominate the sport. Meanwhile, Wu Qiong—Lu Linxuan’s controlling mother—taunted Cheng Yu, claiming he’d never earn enough ranking points to qualify for the championship. To prove her wrong, Cheng Yu fought eight matches in a single day, battling through injuries to secure his title shot. Yet Wu Qiong, relentless, pressured him to abandon Lu Linxuan and Shutong for their ""own good."" On the eve of Shutong’s surgery, Cheng Yu pushed them away with vicious words, then secretly bought a lottery ticket for his old coach. ""Bet on me to win,"" he said—planning to die in the ring so the winnings could support his family.
