Deliveryman’s Fateful Encounter
Lu Chuan comes from an ordinary family. A top scorer in the college entrance examination, he gave up university to pay for his father’s medical treatment and makes a living as a food delivery rider in Kunming. One rainy night, he is hit by a car driven by wealthy heiress Su Yanqing while making a delivery. He intends to return her lost ID card, but Su Yanqing’s younger brother Su Ziyang leads a group to assault him. His phone is smashed, and he gets evicted by his landlord, leaving him homeless overnight. When Lu Chuan’s second uncle Lu Zhanjun learns about his nephew’s humiliation, he tracks down Su Ziyang’s vehicle and forces it to stop. He secures compensation for Lu Chuan, yet an irreconcilable rift forms between Lu Chuan, Su Yanqing and Su Ziyang. Troubles keep piling up. When Lu Chuan delivers food to Dikai International Hotel managed by Su Yanqing, he is framed for theft. His delivery account gets permanently banned, and the electric scooter he relies on for work is confiscated by city officials. Overcome with guilt, Su Yanqing asks Lu Chuan to accompany her to an old classmate’s birthday banquet as a favor. At the dinner, former schoolmates sneer at Lu Chuan for working as a delivery rider. To protect his dignity, Su Yanqing lies and claims they are both couriers. The estrangement between the two slowly fades away. Soon afterward, Su Yanqing offers Lu Chuan a position in the hotel security department and arranges for him to temporarily conduct recruitment interviews. Lu Chuan’s mocking former classmates Zhuang Yuan and Song Zhao come to apply for jobs. They are stunned to find the once lowly deliveryman now sitting as their interviewer. After joining the security team, Lu Chuan gets dragged into internal conflicts within the wealthy Su family. Su Yanqing competes with her elder half-brother Su Mingquan for control of the hotel. Meanwhile, Hao Youcai, the deputy head of security, constantly ostracizes him and sets traps against him. Guided by his second uncle, Lu Chuan unites the security staff and reorganizes the team while dealing with endless workplace schemes. A supplier offers him kickbacks when he purchases security uniforms. Hao Youcai secretly films the scene and spreads the footage everywhere, hoping to get him fired. At the same time, his long-lost first love Jin Yao returns from overseas. Past regrets and the gap between reality torment Lu Chuan. His flatmate Ning Ruowei once had misunderstandings with him, yet they gradually understand each other and offer simple, genuine warmth to one another. Lu Chuan struggles with the hardships of life at the bottom, massive class gaps, complicated workplace conflicts and lingering youthful regrets. Though he endures assault, unlawful detention, false accusations and tangled interpersonal struggles, he always holds fast to his principles and refuses to be corrupted by money and schemes. Amid all life’s hardships, he carves out a path of dignity and growth as an ordinary man.
