A Modern Westie Becomes the Primordial Dog King
The Ancient Dog King is a short‑drama blending fantasy transmigration, cute‑pet comedy, pre‑historic infrastructure and tribal political intrigue. The protagonist is Xiguadi, a modern West Highland White Terrier. Bored with daily life while watching short dramas at home, it wishes to experience the life of its canine ancestors in the Stone Age. A sudden flash of white light transports it 12,000 years back to a primitive tribe. Right after landing, it disrupts Priest Shanhua’s rain‑praying ritual. The tribesfolk deem it an ominous beast that has angered the heavens and prepare to offer it as a sacrifice. It tries every trick to act cute and win favor, yet keeps running into trouble in the primitive tribe and has to flee to avoid capture. That night, wolf packs raid the cave. Caught off‑guard, the whole tribe falls into chaos. Overcoming its own fear, Xiguadi dashes to the cave entrance, barks frantically to give warning and stands before the tribesfolk to confront the wolves, eventually driving them away. It transforms from a hated “omen of disaster” into the tribe’s savior. Chief Ahai formally bestows upon it the name “Canine” and permits it to stay. Winter draws near. Food runs short and morale crumbles. The traitor Azi colludes secretly with the hostile Mu Tribe to stir up strife. Relying on its sharp sense of smell, Xiguadi leads the tribesfolk through thorn‑choked thickets and discovers a vast hidden wild‑fruit grove, solving the tribe’s survival crisis for the cold season. It is revered almost as a deity. While gathering fruits, a black bear attacks. To protect the people, Xiguadi draws the bear’s attention and lures the ferocious beast deep into the woods, barely escaping with its life. Meanwhile, it uncovers Azi’s treason: sneaking out with torches to contact the enemy.
