I Built My Comeback on an Abandoned Construction Site
This is a satisfying, grounded urban drama following Lin Feng, an ordinary man who endures years of exploitation by his own relatives, then builds a stunning career comeback through his own skill and hard work. Lin Feng comes from a humble background and lives alone with his mother. For years, he has gone out of his way to support his maternal uncle Zhou Jianjun, aunt Zhou Jianfang, his uncle’s wife and his cousin Zhou Yang, out of loyalty to family ties. But instead of being grateful, these relatives treat Lin Feng and his mother like a personal cash cow they can drain whenever they please. At the opening dinner, they invite Lin Feng over under the pretense of thanking him, only to pressure him into covering nearly one million yuan for his cousin’s house down payment and bride price. When Lin Feng brings up all the unpaid debts they have racked up over the years, the relatives drop their polite facade instantly, revealing their true greedy, selfish nature. Humiliated, Lin Feng refuses to back down any longer. He takes on an old residential community renovation project that no one else dares to touch. Starting with the site’s most intractable problems, he works through steel beam installation, construction plan adjustments and quality acceptance inspections one by one with his down-to-earth work ethic and professional judgment. In time, he earns the full trust of colleagues Wang Hao, Lao Zhao and the project’s supervising officials.
