Realm’s Shadow, Empress’ Heart
Pei Jue, the vanished Prince of Qin, hides in plain sight as a noodle vendor. Three years ago, a betrayal cost him his army and his wife, Bai Ling’er, who died saving him. Now, he searches for their lost daughter, clinging to the memory of their first meeting. His world shifts when a woman, Bai Yao, flees to his stall with a child in tow. In a moment of peril, the girl produces half a jade pendant—a perfect match to the one Pei Jue wears. The lost prince and his daughter, Xiaoyueya, are reunited. To protect his new family and uncover the truth behind his wife’s death, Pei Jue enters the lion’s den: the Prime Minister’s mansion, as Bai Yao’s bodyguard. Their alliance deepens into a marriage of convenience, a shield against her family’s scheming. Behind this facade, Pei Jue moves: crushing corrupt kin, decimating bandit hordes single-handedly, and helping Bai Yao rise to power with ancient inventions. Their investigation unveils a traitor: the powerful Marquis Shen, who conspired with foreign armies, murdered the emperor, and orchestrated the massacre that stole Pei Jue’s past. When Shen captures Bai Yao to break him, Pei Jue reveals a lethal secret—a heart displaced in his chest—and turns the trap into a slaughter. With the throne empty and invaders at the gate, Shen moves to seize the crown. In the glittering court, Pei Jue sheds his disguise. Revealed as the legendary Prince of Qin, he unleashes his fury and his power, listing Shen’s crimes before a stunned empire. The mere news of his return sends enemies fleeing. Justice is served. The kingdom is secured. And in the quiet aftermath, a marriage of convenience becomes a vow of the heart. With Xiaoyueya by their side, Pei Jue and Bai Yao find a future he once thought lost—a story where love is the ultimate revenge, and the greatest power is coming home.
