Blood Is Not Thicker Than Bond
Poor shoeshiner Wu Dahai raises his son Wu Jie all by himself. Life is tough, yet he remains content. One day, he finds an abandoned baby girl by the roadside. Ignoring others’ dissuasion, he names her Wu Xuan and brings her home. Young Wu Jie grows jealous of his father’s affection for his adopted sister. Cruelly, he tricks four‑year‑old Wu Xuan down to the riverbank under the pretense of playing hide‑and‑seek, then abandons her and leaves alone. Wu Xuan vanishes without a trace. Wu Dahai searches for her for years in vain, consumed by grief. More than ten years pass. Overwork leaves Wu Dahai suffering from uremia. Instead of caring for his father, Wu Jie keeps making up excuses to squeeze money out of him, taking his father’s hardship for granted. Wu Dahai unexpectedly receives 500,000‑yuan demolition compensation intended for his medical treatment. Wu Jie conspires with thugs to stage a fake kidnapping scam and steals the life‑saving sum, using it as a 500,000‑yuan betrothal gift for his girlfriend Xu Yanyan. Worse still, at the Xu family’s birthday banquet, in order to curry favor with the wealthy and build up a filial‑son public image, Wu Jie publicly lies that his father has passed away, weeping over a fake cinerary casket. Wu Dahai bursts into the banquet and exposes the fraud, only to be insulted and beaten by Wu Jie and the Xu family. At the critical moment, a powerful young woman storms in — Lu Shuang, CEO of Lu Group. She tears up a ten‑million‑dollar contract offered to Wu Jie and steps forward to protect Wu Dahai. She is none other than the long‑lost Wu Xuan! Adopted by kind‑hearted people, she has worked her way up into a business elite, yet never stops searching for her foster father.
